Lifegroup Frequently Asked Questions

A Life Group? . . . What's That?

A Life Group is a small gathering of people who meet to study the Bible, encourage one another, and share their lives with each other.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT MY LIFE GROUP?

Every week you will study the Bible, pray, and build relationships with the people in your life group. The leader will guide the discussion as you look at the Bible to discover what is says, what it means, and what it means to you personally. The questions asked in the life group will help you understand God's Word and give you answers for living today. You will also benefit from listening to others share how God is working in their lives.

WHAT WILL I STUDY IN MY LIFE GROUP?

You will be challenged to look at the Bible and to apply its eternal teachings to your own life. Sometimes the discussion will be topical, focusing on current issues and needs, sometimes you will examine an entire book of the Bible; other times you will look at the life and teachings of Jesus. The Life Group group is not a lecture or a traditional Bible class--it is a free flowing discussion. All ideas and opinions are welcome but the Bible is the authority.

WHY DOES MY LIFE GROUP SPEND TIME IN PRAYER?

Life groups are discovering that prayer unleashes God's power to work in their lives. As you pray together you will discover how to praise and thank God, how to receive forgiveness for your own faults and failures, and how to approach God with your needs. Your faith will grow as you see God answering prayers on a week-to-week basis, and as you see changes in your life and the lives of those around you.

HOW DOES MY LIFE GROUP BUILD RELATIONSHIPS?

Life group provides a sense of belonging and community in a world where relationships are often superficial. You will find love, acceptance, and support form your fellow Life Group members. Most groups eat together before or after the Bible study. Many groups plan other social activities and outings together.

WHO WILL LEAD MY LIFE GROUP?

Your Life Group leader is a seeker of God's will just like you. He has received special training in group dynamics. His own experience and understanding of God's Word make him an excellent resource for counseling, encouragement, and prayer.

ARE THERE ACTIVITIES FOR MY CHILDREN?

Yes, children are an important part of our life group ministry. Children of all ages are welcome. Usually a Bible class and other fun activities are provided in another room.

WHERE DOES MY LIFE GROUP MEET?

Life Groups meet in homes and apartments throughout the Puget Sound area. The atmosphere will always be casual, friendly and welcoming.

HOW OFTEN DOES MY LIFE GROUP MEET?

Your life group meets weekly, usually on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. The dynamic of Life Group works best when it is made a regular priority. The study and discussions will last no longer than an hour.

WILL MY FRIENDS BE WELCOME?

Absolutely. Everyone is encouraged to bring friends and family. Life group provides an excellent non-threatening atmosphere where the teachings of Jesus can be discussed and questioned.

WHAT LIFE GROUP WILL BE BEST FOR ME?

There are many possibilities from which to choose. Some life groups focus on singles or young marrieds with children. There are special life groups for teenagers and senior citizens. Other life groups have a wide range of ages and backgrounds.
