Over the ages Classic Christianity has been distorted or hidden. We
want to return to the teachings and lifestyles of Jesus and the early
church. Many who have never gone to church will find Northwest a great
place to discover faith in Jesus. Others with a religious tradition are
looking for a church emphasizing a personal relationships with God.
Other Christians find Northwest a good fit. If you have experienced a
form of Classical Christianity that is not grace centered, perhaps you
can find the Northwest Church to be a breath of fresh air and a place
of healing.

| A Short History of the NW Church |
The Northwest Church is an independent church affiliated with a
back-to-the-Bible movement which germinated on the American frontier in
the Ohio River Valley in the early Nineteenth Century. This
Restoration Movement has its roots in various historical European and
American reformation and restoration efforts. The movement exploded
onto the American religious scene when two independent, fast-growing
groups merged in 1832. These two groups were led by Barton W. Stone
and Alexander Campbell. The movement had a two-pronged goal: the unity
of all believers in Christ and the restoration of New Testament
Christianity using only the Bible as a religious authority. Since
then, the Restoration Movement has divided into three major branches -
the Churches of Christ, the Christian Church (Independent) and the
Disciples of Christ (Christian Church). Over four million people in
the United States today are heirs of this movement.
The ideals of this unity movement are being renewed by the
merger of the Shoreline Christian Church and the Northwest Church of
Christ. These two distinct churches, each with a cherished history,
merged into one church on September 12, 2004 to form the Northwest
Church. As a unified body we stand ready to have a greater ministry
and impact for Jesus in Seattle and around the world.
